چکیده

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a multifactorial chronic systemic autoimmune disease. It characterized by lack of immune tolerance to autoantigens such as nuclear antigens. The aim the study assess interferon-alpha (IFN-α) serum level in Iraqi patients with SLE and determine its potential relation different clinical laboratory parameters disease activity. 100 were all females mean age 31.3 ± 10 years (16-63years) duration 5.8 3.7years (1 month 15 years). average SLEDAI score ranged from 2 22 (8.53 ±3.42). Proteinuria, ESR, creatinine AST significantly higher (65% vs. 10% 0.62±0.11 0.70±0.14 mg/dl respectively) while PLT was lower (231.9±88.8 282.3±67.3 103/mL) (p< 0.001) among compared control. Serum levels IFN-α increased control, no significant difference has been observed (208.7±530.0 63.7±34.8 pg/ml) respectively (P=0.245). Interferon-alpha showed negative correlation Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) active inactive groups. There variations across (p greater than 0.05). In conclusion, results suggest risk effect for female gender etiology SLE. could not be considered biomarker or have perpetuate No evidence any between manifestations investigation current except duration, which suggests them factor increasing level.

Interferon Alpha in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

The pleiotropic cytokine interferon alpha is involved in multiple aspects of lupus etiology and pathogenesis. Interferon alpha is important under normal circumstances for antiviral responses and immune activation. However, heightened levels of serum interferon alpha and expression of interferon response genes are common in lupus patients. Lupus-associated autoantibodies can drive the production...

Serum alpha interferon and lymphocyte inclusions in systemic lupus erythematosus.

The relationship between serum acid-labile alpha interferon and tubuloreticular inclusions within the cytoplasm of circulating lymphocytes was studied in 46 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Elevated levels of interferon (greater than or equal to 8 IU/ml) were found in 17 patients and lymphocyte inclusions in 35. The mean serum interferon concentration in patients with lymphocyte incl...

Serum alpha–actinin antibody status in systemic lupus erythematosus and its potential in the diagnosis of lupus nephritis

Background: In lupus nephritis (LN), deposition of pathogenic autoantibodies in the glomeruli is mediated via cross-reactivity with alpha-actinin. Association of serum alpha-actinin antibody (AαA) with LN has been shown in a few studies but the results are controversial. Methods: Eighty patients into entered the study. The diagnosis of SLE was confirmed according to the American College of Rheu...

Refractory Angioedema in a Patient with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Angioedema secondary to C1 inhibitor deficiency has been rarely reported to be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus. A genetic defect of C1 inhibitor produces hereditary angioedema, which is usually presented with cutaneous painless edema, but edema of the genital area, gastrointestinal and laryngeal tracts have also been reported. In lupus patients, angioedema may be the result of an ac...
